Eleven Polishing Steps for
Industrial Molds
IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING STEPS WHEN
DIAMOND POLISHING.
- MAKE SURE THE SURFACE OF WORK PIECE IS THOROUGHLY CLEAN,
WITH ABSOLUTELY NO ABRASIVE FROM LAST STONE WORK.
- PUT SMALL AMOUNT OF SUN-DIAMOND COMPOUND AND ADD MORE LATER
IF NECESSARY.
- ADD A LITTLE TINNER LUBRICANT IF THE COMPOUND GET DRY OR
HARD.
- NEVER MIX DIFFERENT GRADES OF SUN-DIAMOND COMPOUNDS.
- MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE FELT, BRUSH OR LAP FLAT TO THE WORK
AREA WHEN POLISHING. PRESSURE SHOULD BE LIGHT TO MODERATE.
- AVERAGE SPEED OF 500 RPM FOR ROUGHING AND 5,000 TO 10.000
RPM FOR FINAL POLISHING WOULD BE SUFFICIENT.
- EACH STEP OF DIAMOND COMPOUND SHOULD REMOVE MARKS FROM LAST
STEP OF DIAMOND OR STONE. IF THIS IS NOT THE CASE, STOP IMMEDIATELY
AND USE COARSER GRADE OF COMPOUND.
- BEFORE USING A FINER GRADE OF COMPOUND MAKE SURE TO CLEAN
MOLD SURFACES THOROUGHLY.
- ALLOCATE SPECIFIC BRUSH, FELT OR LAP FOR EACH GRADS OF COMPOUND
YOU ARE USING.
- PROTECT YOUR POLISHING AREA FROM CONTAMINAITION BY ISOLATING
POLISHING AREA FROM GRINDING AREA.
- "POLISHING IS AN ART"
THAT REQUIRES, PATIENCE AND SKILLS AND WILL BE REWARDED BY A
PERFECT MIRROR FINISH.
